Course Reflective Narrative:
In this course I was able to explore more in depth Spanish Literature. I will say that even though this course is considered an intro to literature it was quit intense, which I enjoyed. Well you might say why I enjoyed doing this; it was because it pushed me to stay true to myself in following through on every article or poem given. Every week we analyzed literature, in the first weeks we took a look at narrative literature essays and in the last weeks of the course we analyzed poetry and drama (meeting objective in literacy analysis). What was very interesting was discovering the literature movements every author formed part of and how the way a story or poem was narrated and formatted had to do with the time period it was published. The historical context analysis was an aspect that I would have not thought of being an essential factor of understanding what narrations messages are. Yet, the historical context of each source used in class was different, I was amused by each and it accomplished the analytical objective of this MLO and allowed the narration to be understood in a great extent. Some of these narrative literature movements that I learned of were: Romance, Realism and Generation '98. In poetry some movements I learned of where: Mysticism, Modernism and once again Generation '98. I enjoyed in its fullest capacity, learning about all the movements, but the one I found a passion for was on the movement of the Generation ' 98, that is why I concluded on doing a group presentation on it. This course put my literature knowledge into practice allowing me to elevate my Spanish vocabulary and grammar (MLO 1), interconnecting the course objectives of SPAN 301-01. I would love to keep improving my Spanish vocabulary and analyzing skills, therefor I plan on continuing the weekly reading. I will not only continue to improve among the area mentioned, but it will allow me to further explore more literature movements. I came to notice that poetry wasn't much of interest to me before this class; however that changed after this amazing experience in the course. That being said, I will love to explore more poetry work and especially proceed with doing more research on movement of Generation '98.
